Biography

Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson was born in New York, on January 3 1956. He moved with his family to New South Wales, Australia as a young boy. After college, he studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts and made his acting debut in the television show The Sullivans in 1976.

His Sexiest Moments

1. Fighting for the woman he loves and then for his countrymen in the epic movie Braveheart (1995).

2. Playing Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon movies. If you like your men to be a little on the wild side then look no further.

3. As Nick Marshall, the man who can hear women's thoughts, in the movie What Women Want (2000).

Three Things You Never Knew

1. The success of his self funded movie The Passion of The Christ, earned Mel an estimated in $210,000,000 in 2004. He speculated and boy did he accumulate.

2. He was roommates with the actor Geoffrey Rush in college. You may have seen him in the movies Intolerable Cruelty (2003) and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003).

3. Mel was offered the role of Eliot Ness in The Untouchables (1987), but turned it down. Kevin Costner stepped in and the movie was a huge success.

Looks

Mel Gibson was once the sexiest man in the world. He may have lost that crown several years ago but time has been kind to the Lethal Weapon star. Fast approaching his 60th birthday, Mel could easily pass for a man in his forties. Twenty years younger without the help of cosmetic surgery - maybe he's found the secret of eternal youth.

Body

Mel is no spring chicken, but his body just looks pretty much the same as it ever did. Obviously he isn’t as toned as he once was but you would still look up from your copy of Hello if you saw him on the beach. Most men in their late fifties would love to have his body.

Lifestyle

Mel Gibson is that rare breed of movie star who you could marry safe in the knowledge he would behave himself. Married for decades with an army of children, Mel is the true definition of a family man. No rumours, no scandal, no stories of adultery – Mrs Gibson really did find herself a good one.

Career

With the success of the self-funded Passion of the Christ, Mel is one of the richest and most powerful players in Hollywood. Although, he was hardly short of a few quid prior to the religious cash cow. Commanding $20m a movie, Mel has been part of Hollywood’s A-list for an eternity. And with the success of his Academy Award winning masterpiece Braveheart, he has the critical acclaim to go with the cash accumulation.
